This week will focus on FOCO TECHNIQUE™ principles, elements, development, performative qualities as well as choreographic relevance. FOCO TECHNIQUE™ is an original and evolving dance vocabulary created by choreographer and artistic director of YYDC, Yue Yin. Echoing her choreographic voice, FOCO TECHNIQUE™ is a unique contemporary form of dance movement rooted in Chinese classical and folk dance melded with the complex and diverse influences of the immigrant experience. The form grows from Yin’s own blended international background and a deep appreciation for precision, contrast, fluidity and musicality.

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM FOCO Elements and Principles workshop

This week will open each day with a full length FOCO TECHNIQUE™ class followed by an in-depth study and rehearsal of YYDC repertories. The week long intensive will mirror the company function and culture to offer an experience of working with the company by diving into the process, pushing boundaries, taking risks in an open, safe and encouraging environment.

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Repertory #1
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Lunch Break

Please Note there will be no drop ins classes or day rates offered for either intensive. Dancers must participate in the full week long intensive.

Cancellation Policy: Students who cancel by Monday, June 15th by 11:59 PM EDT will be refunded the full amount paid. Students who cancel by July 6th by 11:59 PM EDT will be refunded 50% of the amount paid.
