ABOUT THE POSITION:
YYDC seeks a well-experienced and collaborative Director of Marketing and Development to enhance the company’s creative vision by assisting with researching and pursuing grant funding as well as handle the logistics of artistic and administrative operations under this new season of programming and touring. This position will report to YYDC Artistic Director, Yin Yue and board of director Joseph Tedeschi. The Director of Marketing and Development should be a team player, able to contribute seasoned wisdom in the areas of researching, writing and applying appropriate grants, confident and experienced in donor communication and artistic network building, developing marketing and advertising strategies, providing skills to integrate YYDC’s values into its work, collaborators, community and future initiatives.
Past experience in the performing arts is required.
Grant Writing
Research and identify eligible funding opportunities and potential financial supporters
Draft and submit grant proposals on behalf of company funding initiatives
Research corporate sponsorship possibilities
Create and maintain project budgets
Monitor the organization’s financial position and make recommendations
Partner with Artistic Director to comply with grant guidelines
Create and assist educational programming income goals associated with workshops/classes/residencies/touring
Marketing and Development
Work with Artistic Director to develop marketing and advertising strategies.
Assist Artistic Director in negotiating contracts with artists and collaborators
Establishing and maintaining relationship with donors through online and, if necessary, in person communications.
Assist in preparing EOY final reports
Monitor individual giving initiatives, cultivate donor relationships, and maintain donor database
Collaborate with Artistic Director to craft and implement a yearly development strategy
Attend YYDC Board Meetings and distribute follow-ups
Attend development sessions with AD
This position is part-time. Hourly rate based on experience.

Based in NYC, YYDC is a non-profit contemporary dance company dedicated to the teaching, production and performance of original choreographic works by founder and artistic director, Yin Yue. Over the past decade, Yin has refined and expanded an original movement vocabulary – FOCO Technique™ — a fusion inspired by the Chinese folk and contemporary dance movement. The company boasts international touring credits, presenting works at various dance festivals, namely Schrit_tmacher Festival in Germany. The company has also presented works at dance festivals such as SummerStage, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival Inside Out, New York International Fringe Festival, Open Door Dance Festival in Iowa City, The Wave Rising Series, DUMBO DANCE Festival, The Current Sessions, DanceNow [NYC] at Joe’s Pub and many more. In addition, YYDC has performed at venues such as Hanover International Choreographic competition, BAM Fisher, Joyce SoHo Theater, Peridance Theater, Lincoln Center Rosh Hall, New York Live Arts and many others. In addition to performance, YY Dance Company also re-staged repertories at universities, companies and dance studios around the world.
